The Final Hours: Investigating a 99th Infantry Soldier's Fate
On August 25, 1944, Arne Magnus Berg (Rådberg), of the 99th Infantry Battalion, was killed in Normandy. Now, close to 80 years later, we helped his family uncover what really happened to him.
“After the war, my grandmother received a telegram from the American authorities informing her of her son Arne Magnus Rådberg’s death. Later, she also received a Purple Heart medal and an American flag, but she never learned what happened to him,” says Norwegian Alf Bjarne Jørgensen, who is the nephew of Arne Magnus.
